U.P. Tax Exemptions Threaten Jalandhar Leather Industry

U.P. Govt has granted VAT exemption in its state on Leather Goods . This would render Jalandhar's large Leather Goods industry uncompetitive . Jalandhar leather factories would be forced to close down or migrate to U.P. This is already happening in case of Jalandhar's traditional Sports Goods industry .

In order to protect Jalandhar factories , Punjab Govt . should grant similar concessions to Jalndhar units with immediate effect .
