Canada Based NRI - Arranges 3 Simultaneous Marriages - Ramoowalia Rescues Victims

God Bless Balwant Singh Ramoowalia , President Lok Bhalai Party. At a Press Conference in Jalandhar money taken by fraud was returned to the victims.

A Canada based Non Resident Indian ( NRI ) had arranged for 3 marriages. Dowries ranging from Rs. 5 lakh INR to Rs. 32 lakh were agreed upon.

The Fraudulent Groom enticed the victims by dangling before the family members of the hapless " brides " the prospects of immigration for girls relatives. Such offers make the selfish relatives force the girl to accept these fraudulent NRI marriages.

Fraudulent NRI Marriages- UK Govt Planning Legislation to Help to Victims.

Jalandhar born Mr. Virendra Sharma who is a sitting British MP for Ealing, Southall was on a visit to his birth place. He expressed his deep concern on the plight of the young Punjabi brides who have been trapped in fraudulent NRI marriages.

Mr. Sharma has advised parents of the prospective bride to do a background check on every foreign based bride groom. He said because of their culture and values Indian brides do not report domestic violence . In UK a anti Dowry Act is in the pipeline and there are many existing provisions against spousal violence and torture.He said girls in UK should be made aware of the legal support system.Mr. Sharma has also approached the Indian High Commission in Britain to extend maximum support to such victims. Indian High Commission's response has been " encouraging ."

" Forced Marriages "-- BBC Serial & Fraudulent NRI Marriages

Today ( 22-03-09 ) BBC telecast a very interesting programme on the subject of help and active intervention by British High Commission in Islamabad ( Pakistan ) regarding young brides holding British citizenship who were forced to marry against their wishes.

It was very gratifying to see how British Mission helps such trapped brides in Pakistan.

We , strongly urge , Indian embassies to actively follow this British example and render all possible help to the numerous unfortunate Indian " wives " who are suffering in foreign lands because of fraudulent NRI marriages. Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India should take immediate steps in this regards.

Fraudulent NRI Marriages- National Level Seminar in Jalandhar on 30-05-12

A National Level Seminar on Overseas And  Fraudulent NRI Marriages would be held on 30-05-12 at Haveli Heritage Jalandhar.

The Seminar would be inaugurated by MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Deputy CM Punjab , Sukhbir Singh Badal would inaugurate a Helpline Service for the Victims of Fraudulent NRI Marriages.

Minister for NRI Affairs Bikramjit Majithia would chair the proceedings .

The Seminar would be chaired by Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar Chairperson National Women Commission.

This laudable Initiative to help Thousands of Punjabi girl victims of NRI Sham Marriages has been taken by IG Punjab Police Sumedh Singh Saini IPS.

72 Yr Old NRI files Compaint against 30 Yr " Second " Wife

It has been reported in today's newspapers that a 72 year old NRI of Goraya ( Jalandhar ) has filed a complaint with the police that his second wife in India who is 30 years old has decamped with a sizable cash, jewellery etc.He seeks police help to recover the same.

While the act of theft by this "wife" is condemnable what strikes the mind is the bizarre match these two have been. While every where wealth and position has enabled men to exploit young girls, what is amazing in some of the NRI cases is the open brazenness with which NRI commit these fraudulent marriages.
