Many progressive parents who love their daughters with equal love , celebrated Lohri for them . Traditionally, families celebrated Lohri only for male children.
One prominent example of this gender equality is Secretary of Sahara Club and former Sarpanch of Village Dhingarian ( Adampur ) , near Jalandhar who celebrated Lohri for his two grand daughters Devinder Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur.
