Mobile Sets Without IMI Numbers May Be Disabled w.e.f. 06-01-2009

As per a Government an order , Mobile Service providers may discontinue service to all those connections whose hand sets that do not have IMI numbers.This is being done for security reasons especially after the recent terrorist attacks.

This move would affect mainly China made sets which were available at a fraction of cost of equivalent models.Users of such sets feel that Government should not have allowed such sets from the beginning. A move of this sort, presently, would leave such customers high and dry.
