Advocates Irked At Amendements in Criminal Proceure Code-No Work Today.

Lawyers of Jalandhar have expressed their opposition to the new amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code which allow the accused to give a direct reply to the police authorities before the accused may be arrested. District Bar Association, Jalandhar has declared " No Work Day" to-day.

The Govt., on the other hand, is trying to speed up disposal of the pending cases by reducing the burden on courts and judicial officers.

It is astonishing that a civil case in Indian courts, on the average, takes 12 years to to decided.
