Plantation of paddy ( rice ) has started in Jalandhar and around. This year farmers ( zamindars ) are facing an acute shortage of migrant workers who come from UP and Bihar to work in the fields .
Monsoon is still a few weeks away. As paddy requires lot of water, electricity is being diverted for pumping of under ground water. There would be some relief once the monsoon breaks out in Punjab.
Rice and Wheat are the two most important crops grown in Punjab.
