Punjab Government amended the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act 1949 in 2001 by East Punjab ( Amendment ) Act 2001 which allowed NRIs to get their properties vacated from tenants.
NRI Sabha Punjab president, Kamaljit Singh Hayer informed that this 2001 Amendment has , now , been extended to Chandigarh as well.
