1971-1973: Project Scientist, 17th Soviet Antarctic Expedition, and the first ever Indian to winter over the South Pole and circumnavigate and explore the Antarctic continent, and the only Indian recipient of the prestigious Soviet Antarctic Medal, Ribbon & Polar Watch, which is a unique historical achievement.

1977: Awarded Ph.D. in Science (Atmospheric Physics & Environmental Science) by the Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India, for his Ph.D. thesis/research work entitled 'Atmospheric Structure: Exploration over Antarctica and Interhemispheric Comparison'.

1974-1982: Senior Scientist, Space Applications Centre (SAC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space (DOS), Government of India, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

1978-1979: Consultant, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), New York, USA.

1991-1994, and onwards: WMO/UN Expert in the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), United Nations Organization (UNO), Geneva, Switzerland, for conducting an advanced WMO Training Programme at the Department of Meteorological Services in Harare, Zimbabwe, under the Finnish International Development Agency (FINIDA), the Southern African Transport and Communication Commission (SATCC), and the WMO/United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Afterwards: Professor of Atmospheric Physics & Environmental Science, Department of Agricultural Meteorology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana-141004, Punjab, India, from where he got recently retired at superannuation age of 60 years, on 31st March 2007.
