Non Resident Indians ( NRI )s had been indulging in Multiple / Holiday Marriages for free sex and dowry ( also dubbed as Modern Day Slavery / Human Trafficking ) and there are numerous complaints regarding desertions of so called wife / wives and children.
But ,in a case lodged with SSP Jalandhar a family embers ( Village Cheema Kalan , Near Phillaur - Jalandhar ) have alleged that their daughter married to a Canada based NRI ( from a village in Shahkot ) has been murdered for the sake of a Life Insurance claim worth crores.
This is startling even by NRI standards of fraudulent marriages .
