The recent amendments in Punjab 's VAT ( Form 15 and Worksheet 7 ) are steps in the right direction but a lot needs to be done to improve business activity in Punjab.
Inspector Raj corruption needs to brought under tolerable limits.All tax gathering systems should be made simple and transparent.
Traders should be given due respect. Traders provide all the taxes from which the Govt. is run.
Other issues of Property Tax., Overpricing of Petrol ( highest VAT in India ), Choongi ( Octroi ) on Urban Electricity Bills , making provision for Free Electricity to Physically Handicapped Punjabis , imposition of tax on Palatial Farm Houses etc etc should be taken up at the earliest.
