Ram Sarup Gupta ( aged 85 years ) is one of very few pre 1947 residents of Basti Danishmandan. He still cycles around 8 km daily and has an excellent memory.A pre independence Congress leader Mr. Gupta is very well known and respected figure in the Basti. At the time of independence, their family's books and stationery shop in Bazar Sheikhan (M/s. Gupta Brothers )was the biggest. Their 3 storeyed house in Basti Danishmandan still retains its pre 1947 charm when it was the highest building in the Basti. read your blog on Victor High School...also about Gupta Brothers.....I phoned my elder brother who lives in Washinton DC...he is 82 years old and was a student of DAV college.....he still remembers this book store .....he said we all bought our college books from there. See this world is so small....
