Voting for the Nurmahal ( Jalandhar )Assembly by elections was postponed by Election Commission from 28-05-09 to 12-06-09 due to the violent incidents in Jalandhar following Vienna attack.
Mohinder Singh Kaypee MP and President Punjab State Congress Committee has opposed any further postponement .There appears to be polarisation of votes. There is a big under current of anti incumbency factor post Vienna Gurudwara attack.
