Punjab Government has effected , in one go , a multi fold increase in the rates of court fees charges. For example Vakalatama ( for engaging a lawyer ) court fees have been raised 40 times.
Lawyers in Jalandhar and rest of Punjab observed a strike today ( 09-09-09 ) to protest against such a massive increase .
