Paid Electricity Consumers of Punjab to Billed at Steeply Hiked Rates w.e.f. 01-04-10

Paid conusmers of electricity are going to get bills with hefty increase in power rates and electricity rates. It appears these rates have become effect ice from 01-04-10 . Paid consumers would bear the burden of ( cross subsidy ) free electricity being provided to certain " chosen " categories ( vote bank politics ) which includes some of the super rich farmers owning land worth hundreds of crores.

This unjustified and blatantly discriminatory burden of urban paid consumers ( who are also billed the abolished octroi ) is adding insult to injury. While the Government had promised roll back of earlier hikes , it has , instead , come out with massive increases.

Urban paid consumers are also facing massive cuts. Like  Queen Marie Antoinette   of pre Revolution France to starving ordinary people  telling  LET THEM EAT CAKES  , Punjab  Govt. , instead of giving electricity to paid consumers ,is giving them only High Voltage Bills  by which  they pay for the electricity provided free of cost  to Super Rich .

All political parties have ditched Urban Punjabis. It seems they are no body's vote bank.
