At a time when Urban Punjabis were expecting relief from back breaking taxes , Punjab Govt. has gone ahead with Property Tax on Urban Punjabis.
Earlier when there was a proposal to implement wealth Tax on Rich Farmers ( owning land with in 8 kilometers of cities ) BJP which is a Ruling Coalition Party in Punjab , had threatened to come out in the streets to protest wealth tax on Rich Farmers. Akali Dal had threatened State wide protests.
Now , it remains to be seen what BJP does to save the Non Farmer Punjabis from these discriminatory back breaking taxes.

Punjab Govt have imposed Property Tax on Urban / Non Farmers so that no Wealth Tax is imposed on Rich Farmers.
It is sheer exploitation .
