Punjab Government has been very quick in giving VAT relief on diesel but no cut back has been given on petrol .
Petrol in Punjab is nearly Rs. 7 more expensive than in Haryana although petrol in both Punjab and Haryana is sourced from same refineries.
In Punjab in one litre of petrol nearly Rs. 36 are collected as taxes in one form or the other.
Hundreds of petrol pumps near the border states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are facing closure.
Handicapped persons should be given free petrol as car for them is not luxury but a necessity.

The Queen's 1st lover was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she did not love the first lover. Although he loved her deeply, she hardly took notice of him.
One day, the Queen fell ill and she knew her time was short. She thought of her luxurious life and wondered, I now have four lovers with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone.

Legend of Shahid Baba Nihal Singh of Talhan ( Jalandhar )
The legendary great martyr Baba Niahal Singh was an artisan- engineer ( Mistry ) residing in villageDakoha near Talhan ( Jalandhar ). He belonged to the Ramagarhia community of Sikhs. This community is renowned the world over for their mechanical skills. Baba Nihal Singh was , thus , no fakir or Sant during his life time , in the traditional meaning of a Baba.
Baba Nihal Singh served the people by making pulleys for drinking water wells. His special skills lay in installing his pulleys at the base of the well. People believed that the great Baba was blessed with divinity so that the water wells in which he installed the pulleys never became dry and its water was always sweet.
Once, while installing such pulley Baba Nihal Singh met with a fatal accident. For the common man the Baba became a martyr while he was serving the people .
cremation. This " The grateful people constructed a " Samadhi ' in village Talhan and the place ofBaba'sSamadh' was looked after by his faithful associate , Harnam Singh. After Harnam Singh'sdeath , the followers cremated him next to theBaba's Samadhi.
Gradually, the two Samadhis blossomed into a grand Gurudwara. The devotees started holding an annual Mela to mark the death anniversary ( "Barsi" ) of the Baba. This Mela is quite a grand event inJalandhar.There are sports events like Kabbadi , volleyball and tug-of-war. Gatka displays are held.

Talhan Gurudwara- Devotees Seeking Visas Offer Toy Planes
Shahid Baba Nihal Singh Gurudwara at Talhan ( Jalandhar ) is celebrating its annual Mela from 18-06-15 to 21-06-15 . The devotees , many from Doaba region ( area between rivers Sutlej and Beas rivers ) , have found a way of making an offering which is unique in the world.
Many Doaba Punjabis are very keen to go abroad in search of better livelihoods. But getting Visas to fly out is an elaborate process with anuncertain result. So devotees pray at the Gurudwara by purchasing a toy aeroplane model which is sold at toy stalls outside the Gurudwara. Along with these toy planes stickers of the airline of various destination countries are , also , sold. Intending immigrants acquire a toy plane with correct destination national airline sticker ( like British Airways for British Visa or Lufthansa for Germany etc. ). it is very strange that Electricity authorities in Punjab are denying new electricity connections to urban residents on the grounds that their colonies are yet to be regularised . Roti Kapada Makaan are basic needs of every Indian . Regularisation of urban colonies is time consuming and entails many complicated bureaucratic procedures which a common urban Indian may not find easy to fulfill.
Besides , only urban Punjabis need to get their colonies approved .

Give Sharehoders Right to Vote by Email - Jalandhar Investors
Indian companies are registering shareholder's emails to enable companies to send communications / Annual Reports by Internet under the " Go Green "initative.

This is very laudable. Now , shareholders should , also be given the Right to use their email registration to cast votes both in lieu of postal ballots and more importantly in AGM / EGM Resolutions.
India is , geographically , a huge country . Email voting can help meet this challenge and would enable far flung resident share holders to have their due say in the affairs of the Companies whose shares they hold.

Chinese Designs on Gilgit - The Tribune Article
Jalandhar citizens have expressed their gratitude to the poular English daily of India " The Tribune " for highlighting the annexation designs China has on Gilgit , Hunza , Baltistan etc. ( presently under Pakistan administered Kashmir ).
India , apart from taking proper Defence related reactions should also engage Pakistan on this very important strategic issue.
India should win over Pakistan 's trust and confidence. It would be really myopic if opportunist China is allowed to exploit Pakistan - India mistrust .
India should highlight the Chinese promises ( 1950 s ) of maintaining Tibet 's autonomy .

Petrol Prices in Punjab - Urban Punjabis Crushed
Petrol price in Punjab is the highest in India . It is nearly Rs. 7 more than that in the neighboring state of Haryana although petrol in both Haryana and Punjab is sourced from same refineries . Nearly Rs. 36 in one litre of petrol are collected as taxes.
Instead of providing relief to Urban Punjabis , there is , instead , news reports of increasing petrol prices again

IT and Commerce courses seem to be very popular.

Ram Lila Ground Delhi - 1977 and 2011- Deja vu
The present incident at Ram Lila Ground ( Baba Ramdev Vs. State ) reminds one of a similar incident in 1977 ( Emergency )
Babu Jagjivan Ram was holding a mammoth opposition Rally at Ram Lila Ground . The then Government / administration desperately wished to see the Rally not succeed . What to do ? At that time there was only one Television channel ( that too under the Government ) . Hurriedly , a print of blockbuster Hindi film " Bobby " was procured and telecast coinciding with the Rally.

End Corruption - Make Governance Simple , Transparent And Pro People
Corruption in India stems from the way India has been administered after Independence . It is because of corruption that we lag behind China. If we end corruption in India , we can add nearly two percentage points to our GDP growth,
The elaborate governing structure evolved by the colonial rulers which was inherited was allowed to continue more or less in the same form.. Only the nationality of the administrators changed The names of Lutyens New Delhi Roads were changed from historically British to historically Indian . But a new set took over the 8 kanal + colonial bungalows of Lodhi Estate etc. Similarly , old colonial mansions continued with the Post independent DMs . So much so , that the names displayed , post independence ,on Honours Board in the offices of many Class One officers continued under the Colonial predecessors !!!.
All laws should be reviewed and put to the test whether they are relevant with regard to present day India.. Procedures should be made simple , uncomplicated and transparent. The powers that are in India should be facilitators and not speed breakers.
To show that the old colonial Anglo Saxon and exploitative rulers really left India in 1947 political leaders and Babus should work for the people and not for each other. They should take pride in being with " Aam " Indians and not above them . The cult of VIP ism ( as indicated by Red Beacon of official cars ) should end . There should not be any Vote Bank politics . Let unite India not divide it .
Malaidaar " Postings and Departments should be identified and suitably treated.
( Example ; If an Indian wants to start a passenger bus service why should there be prohibitive and multitude barriers like permissions and permits . These only help the existing operators. Why should the traffic police treat on Highways , our hard working Truck drivers as if they are criminals ? )

but to do all this we need a leader who thinks like that and does like that. Which means he should be a statesman and not a politician.
all of us are good at discussing issues and have our own solutions.
Even the so called aam aadmi is corrupt only he has not got a chance. You see it every day on the road and anywhere you go. Anyone will like to get away by paying little bribe and saving more money, time, botheration etc. Similarly I have seen people who talk about honesty forget it when they have a position to make some money. A strict policeman is also bad for some and a corrupt policeman is also bad for some.
I dont think it has anything to with colonialism. The bureaucracy maybe. Even countries like Japan , Italy there is large corruption. It is the mind set of Indians. Business, politicians, bureaucrats, police are all involved. laws definitely need to be changed. But there are enough laws to deal with corrupt but the problem is implementation.
The country has to teach right values to its people. We can all make suggestions but till such time there are many people at helm of affairs who care, things can not change.
The Annas and Ramdev have highlighted an issue let us see where it leads. At least Corruption has become an issue for next election. If congress does not act. They can not come back.
